Changing the World, One Life at a Time....
I grew up knowing that I wanted to help others, knowing that I had to learn as much as I possibly could so that I could always be ready and able to make someone's life/year/month/day/moment better. There is no more rewarding feeling than a seeing a smile on someone else's face and knowing that you caused it. So I made it my goal to be the absolute best person that I could be and live my life to make the world a better place by being a positive influence on everyone that I meet. Of course, this occassionaly leads to being taken advantage of and used by people who have yet to learn to put positivity into the world themselves; but for every negative experience in life, there are a hundred positive things if you know how to look for them.
This is a big thing that I try to teach all of my students. There is ALWAYS a positive somewhere in your life, even when things seem to be at their worst. So when you get sad, depressed, lonely, frustrated, angry or simply overwhelmed with life....Stop, take a deep breath and look at life from a different angle. There is a shining ray of hope, sunshine, happiness, positivity, motivation or whatever you are needing at that particular time in your life; you simply have to find it and let it change your mindset.
ETC is that shining ray of inspiration for me on almost a daily basis (there are some days that we don't have a camp or class :) I hope that my students feel the same way and if they learn nothing else from my classes, I pray that they learn how to change their perspective from time to time and look for the beauty in life, in people, in theatre, in the world and (most importantly) in themselves.
